Welcome...
Welcome to many new subscribers this month.
We are
happy to report that traffic at our site, and
subscriptions
continues to climb despite the onset of winter.
The Daily Chuckle...
Good Grades
Little Bobby wasn't getting good grades in school. One day he surprised his teacher when he tapped her on the shoulder and said: "I don't want to scare you, but my daddy says if I don't get better grades, somebody is going to get a spanking!"
Winter Briefs...
Holy Smokes! Over 50 inches of snow already!
What can
be done? We can do very little, you
may be able to do a lot!
Winter is a great time to do 'heavy work'.
Making a new
garden, building that mulch pile, heavy tree
pruning. Beat the
heat by doing major jobs now. Sales
for us slow in the winter,
but we will be shipping products (water garden
kits, especially)
all winter long to astute gardeners 'beating the
heat'. Digging
that hole is a lot easier in cool weather.
It can take a couple
fellows all afternoon to dig the hole!
All that's needed is
weather above freezing for a day or two to get the
work done.
What can be done around your garden if you've
snow-cover?
Now is the best time to tune up your mower and
roto-tiller.
Sharpen and clean your tools. Did you
know a standard file
will sharpen your shovel? We sharpen
all our cheap shovels
with a grinder, but still use a hand file on all
our expensive
shovels. A grinder would work, but a
hand file will make a
shovel razor sharp, and take off the least amount
of metal,
insuring they'll last forever. You don't sharpen
your shovels?
Try it, you'll never use a dull shovel again...
The work of
digging is easily cut in half.
Note: Where are we that we've all this
snow? Northern
Michigan, the Winter Wonderland. It's that
lake effect snow
you've no doubt heard all about...
Our online plant center is running a week behind
due to
snow/winter related problems. This is
sure to be 2 weeks
before too long. Our plants are
shipped as bulbs, roots, and
tubers, and are ready to plant any time of the
year, but all
plants are freshly dug, so this slows thing down.
Thanks for
your patience...
Computer Tips...
Does your Windows program open up your windows too
small
all time, and you have to mouse up to that little
box and
maximize, or right click and maximize everytime to
view
anything? This can be so annoying!
Instead- Hold the 'Ctrl' Key
(control) down while you "drag" open a window to
the desired
size, and windows will remember to open it there
everytime.
Do this once for each program you open, and all
your windows
will start behaving!
